A new season starts in Clevedon School’s woodland … (entries shown chronologically)
A patch previously cleared of brambles and nettles is strimmed again and any remaining bramble roots are grubbed out. This grass area now needs to be mown regularly during the summer by the school’s contractor.
Brambles and tree shoots are cut back to improve the view from the top of the woodland trail. A felled multi-stemmed holm oak provides material for forest school students.
March 2018
The woodland area accesible to students is significantly enlarged by clearing back brambles and felling self-set sycamore, at the same time creating fresh wildlife habitats.
Informal woodland trails are made more accessible by thinning out saplings and clearing bramble & fallen branches. Cut timber provides welcome building material for students.
August 2018
A patch of rank grass behind the 6th Form Unit is strimmed; overhanging hazels are cut back to facilitate mowing; woodland trails are maintained and brambles grubbed out.
